Hello, Catherine. Yes, they’re better than chocolate when in the mood for them. But…if I’m in the mood for chocolate…well then, I think chocolate would be better. 🙂 God bless your Thanksgiving, too!

  5. No, I can NOT believe you’ve never had one Shannon! You would love them, I know.

There are two varieties that are commonly found in stores. This one that I’m showing on our tree is called the FUYU persimmon. It has the consistancy of an apple (you eat it like an apple) and tastes sweet and yummy. The other is called, HACHIYA. It is large, acorn-shaped, deep orange-red color, and soft when ripe. These you don’t want to eat raw and alone. They are used to bake with; for instance cookies.

Are you coming to Gilroy anytime soon? Come and get some so you can taste them, okay?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Love you!

  7. THANK YOU for stopping by the house with those delectable persimmons!

As soon as you left we had the knife out peeling away. They are delicious! You were right. I do love them. The kids do too. I put one in the blender and added some cinnamon, & nutmeg then baked it in the oven. It came out so yummy.

I think I’m going to try to make some persimmon pie or persimmon cookies now. (I found an online recipe site for persimmons.)

Thanks for sharing! You are so sweet.
