Oahu 2008 – Day 12 – Last Day

Today is (actually November 18th) our last day in Hawaii.  :(    We have had such a fun, relaxing time, we just didn’t want it to end, but alas, life was waiting for us in California. :)

We discussed what we would do with our last day and decided to head up to the North Shore again.  We really liked it there.  We knew for sure we wanted to eat at Kua’aina’s again.  And I wanted another shave ice before leaving, so planning our eating schedule, we headed out.

It was breezy and sunny; not too hot – just right.  Along the way I took this photo because I just really liked the composition. :)

We went to the beach, thinking about the possibilities of swimming – if the waters weren’t too rough.  They were, so we just took a walk.  And boy!  Were we rewarded for that walk!  Right there on the sand, was a huge turtle!  We were thrilled!  We had never seen a turtle so close like that!  It was so cool!  He or she was just laying there, basking in the sun.  He would open his eyes and look at us when we moved, then close them again.

We sat there and watched it for a long time.

Then, we looked at the water and there were two more swimming toward us!  They got right to the beach, but didn’t come out of the water.  Maybe they saw us.

After a long time, we decided to keep walking along the beach.  We were the only people there!

We got close to some rocks on the sand and much to our surprise again – there was another turtle!  So cool!  :D

You can see the path it made when it came out of the water.

I got closer to this one.  Isn’t it cute?!  :D

After we got our fill of watching the tutles we decided we were hungry, so we walked back to our car across a large park and goofed off along the way.  :D

Len wrestled with the boys.

One of our favorite ice cream stores had this sign out.  It’s funny and so true!

You have to get used to “Hawaiian time” over here.  Nobody rushes.  Everyone takes their time.  You must be patient.  :)

After having some shave ice, we headed towards the center of the island, through the pineapple fields, and through the  town, Wahiawa.

Wahiawa is the town my family and I lived in for a couple of years when I was 5/6 years old.  I didn’t find the house I used to live in, but here is a photo of it I scanned, that was taken 40 years ago.

My brother, Todd, and I are sitting on the front porch.

Here’s another pic of me in Hawaii.

My parent’s car.

Well, that ends our Oahu 2008 vacation.  The next day we left for home, refreshed, happy, and blessed.  Here’s one last photo of Kyle on the morning we left.  Hope you enjoyed my Oahu posts and if you just didn’t get enough, you can see more photos here on my Flickr account.  There’s only 437 of them.  :D   Aloha and Mahalo!
